GRRD nominated for 2020 Australian National Pride in Sport Awards

An exciting and very proud moment for our club - all the more special after a difficult couple of months.

Gippsland Ranges Roller Derby are delighted to confirm we have been named in not 1, but 3 different categories in the 2020 Australian National Pride in Sport Awards.

An insane level of celebration swept over our committee today, when we realised our club and proudly, our sport, is represented in larger proportion to other major sporting disciplines, which is a win itself.

Gippsland Ranges Roller Derby is an Award Finalist Nominee in;

🌈2020 LGBTQI Community Sport Award and
🌈Small Club of the Year

🌈Immediate Past President Caitlin Grigsby has also been named as one of four finalists in the 2020 LGBTQI Out Role Model of the Year category.

Winners are to be announced at the annual Australian Pride in Sport Awards in Melbourne on Wednesday 1st April 2020.

"We are so proud and honoured that the effort of our club, families and community in 2019 have been celebrated and acknowledged in this way, particularly amongst such deserving recipients.

No one person did this, we recognise that it took the extensive commitment of our members and families, the collective community of Gippsland and the wider roller derby community from across Victoria and interstate to have made our efforts impactful, safe and successful.

We are delighted that Gippsland Ranges could be the place Roller Derby Pride Cup could begin and we look forward to our 2nd Roller Derby Pride Cup in May 2020.

We honour and look forward to celebrating any outcome with the exceptional nominees considered in these Awards at the event in April" - Caitlin Grigsby.

We'd also like to acknowledge:
Pride Cup - Finalist, Inclusive Initative of the year and Kara Montoneiri (Pride Cup) - Finalist for Ally of the year. Both of which played a significant role in our activities and success.

Gippsland Ranges Roller Derby and Gippsland Pride Initiative Committees will be seeking support from local and state government to be in attendance at this year's awards in Melbourne in April.
